The 20,000 rial banknote issued by the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2019 features distinct visual characteristics on both sides.

The front of the banknote is dominated by shades of blue and green. The portrait of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, an emblematic figure, is positioned on the right side. Persian-Arabic (nastaliq) script completes this side.

On the back, the banknote showcases the wind catcher of the Aghazadeh mansion located in Abarkooh. A windowed security thread is integrated, adorned with a demetalized stylized sun. The watermark also depicts Ruhollah Khomeini. Inscriptions in Latin script include the face value "20000", the name of the issuing bank "CENTRAL BANK OF THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN", the value in words "TWENTY THOUSAND RIALS", and a caption referring to the monument depicted "THE WINDCATCHERS IN ABARKOOH". The value "20000" is repeated. The security thread, visible through windows, features the inscription "I.R. IRAN" repeated along its entire length when viewed against the light.

The dimensions of the banknote are 163 mm in length and 78 mm in width.
