The 5 cedis banknote, issued in 1977, is part of the X1 series. It comes from Ghana and has a number of distinctive features.

The obverse of the banknote highlights a portrait of a woman facing right. She wears a hat. A star is positioned in the center, on the left of the banknote.

The reverse of the banknote depicts the Larabanga Mosque, an important religious building, placed in the center of the composition. The watermark integrated into the paper of the banknote displays an eagle's head accompanied by a star.

This banknote was printed by De La Rue, a company specializing in the printing of banknotes and secure documents. Its dimensions are 140 millimeters in length and 67 millimeters in width.
