Maha Vajiralongkorn, known as Rama X, was born on July 28, 1952. He is the son of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit. After studying in Thailand and abroad, he served in the Thai military, where he achieved the rank of general.

Rama X became king in December 2016, following the death of his father, marking a turning point in Thai history. His reign has been characterized by direct management of royal affairs and a reaffirmation of the monarchy's role in Thai society. Although he was crowned, he took time to assert his authority, including revising certain laws.

His reign has also been disrupted by protest movements, where young Thais have called for political reforms and greater transparency from the monarchy. Rama X is often seen as a controversial figure, with critics highlighting his extravagant lifestyle and political decisions. Despite this, he remains a central figure in Thai culture and politics.
