Obverse: Liberty standing facing forward, holding a palm branch and a sword, holding a hat above a crown and two clasped hands. INDICATA LIBERTAS CONCORDIA.
Reverse: The dismantling of the citadel. RESTITVTIO R P ANTWERP.

Traumatized by the Spanish fury that ravaged the city in 1576, the inhabitants of Antwerp, fearing that the garrison established in the citadel would turn against the city again, requested and obtained permission from the States General in August 1577 to dismantle the fortress. The work was carried out day and night, but the nighttime celebrations degenerated to such an extent that they were called the “Flemish Fury.”
