Fine 2 Reales of Archduke Charles III "The Pretender," who participated in the War of the Spanish Succession (1701–1715), opposing the Duke of Anjou, Philip of Bourbon, the future Philip V and the victor in the battle for succession to the Spanish throne.
This coin was minted in territories loyal to the Archduke during the war (Catalonia). Being dated after 1711, it indicates Charles had already left Spain to assume the crown of the Holy Roman Empire (where he became known as Charles VI of the Holy Roman Empire).
The coin shows voids, light green oxidations, and signs of cleaning.
