The sample fair in Gorna Oryahovitsa was the first sample fair in Bulgaria. The idea for holding the sample fair came from the merchant Stefan Obreshkov. A Committee for the fair was created. The newspaper "Zora" of April 26, 1925 wrote: "On March 26, the first sample fair of its kind in Bulgaria opened in Gorna Oryahovitsa. An excellent idea, born in the minds of several people led by the mayor of the city, to turn the traditional Sir-pazar into a sample fair in the style of Western European ones...." Companies from all over Europe and the USA participate in the fairs, the most famous of which are "Krupp", "Siemens", "Philips", "Ford", "Fiat" and others. They arrange permanent representative pavilions where they exhibit the novelties of their production. The initiative contributes to increasing the volume and variety of production in the city and the import of new modern machines and technical equipment. The global economic crisis of 1929 led to the cessation of state financial support for the fair. The last fair was held in 1932. Plovdiv bought the rights to hold the fair in 1932.
