Die Stadt Nürnberg beschließt am 24.11.1963 eine Untergrundbahn zu bauen; am 20.3.1967 beginnen die ersten Arbeiten; am 28. Januar 1978 fährte die erste U-Bahn aus Langwasser, einem Stadtteil Nürnbergs, in die Altstadt ein; zum Andenken an diesen Tag gab die Stadt Nürnberg diese Medaille aus;
