Pièce Niue island 2 dollars Silver 2021 BE ( belle épreuve)

This 2 dollar coin was issued in 2021 by Niue Island, a territory associated with New Zealand renowned for its numismatic releases dedicated to major popular culture franchises. It is part of the Chibi Coin collection, featuring characters from the DC Comics universe, and pays tribute here to Supergirl, one of the iconic heroines of this American comic book universe.

The coin is struck in 999 fine silver and weighs 31.1 grams, corresponding to one troy ounce of fine silver. Its mintage is strictly limited to 2,000 pieces, making it a restricted-issue release.

The "Chibi" artistic style is directly derived from Japanese manga aesthetics, characterized by deliberately distorted proportions: oversized heads, compact bodies and simplified features, giving a graphic expression that is both recognizable and distinct from traditional superhero representations. The figure of Supergirl is rendered in this stylized manner, featuring her iconic costume in the characteristic colors of Superman's cousin.

The obverse of the coin features the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, in accordance with the customs of Commonwealth territories issuing their own currency, accompanied by the face value of 2 dollars and the name of the issuing country, Niue Island. The reverse is dedicated to the representation of Supergirl in the Chibi style, with the graphic elements characteristic of this collection.

This issue constitutes a one-ounce 999 fine silver coin, produced in a limited series, bridging the world of modern numismatics with that of DC Comics culture.
