This Colombian banknote, with a face value of 5000 pesos, was issued in 2022. It is part of a series identified by the prefix "BA".

The front of the banknote features the poet José Asunción Silva. He is depicted from the back, at the center of a complex honeycomb pattern, holding an umbrella. His portrait also appears on the right. A Puya-type plant (Paepalanthus columbiensis) and a bee are visible, positioned between the watermark and the figure of the poet. The name of the issuing institution and the country are inscribed in the lower left. The face value is indicated in numerals and letters in the upper left, and vertically, in letters, on the right side. A Braille indication, representing the number five, is present to the right of the country's name.

The back of the banknote presents a view of the Andes mountain range, with rivers and high-altitude vegetation. Animals such as a bear, a condor, and a bumblebee can also be seen. An excerpt from the poem "Melancolía" by José Asunción Silva is printed in the upper right, accompanied by the seal of the issuing bank. The face value is repeated in numerals and letters in the upper left and in letters in the lower right.

The banknote incorporates various graphic and textual elements that highlight the figure of José Asunción Silva and the biodiversity of Colombia.
