The presence of the mint mark "C" indicates that the coin was minted in Castelsarrasin, a town in Tarn-et-Garonne. During the Liberation, a temporary branch of the Monnaie de Paris was established there. This relocation aimed to meet the urgent cash needs of the population and the administration, in the absence of stable and reliable economic circuits. The workshop was quickly set up to mint coins.
