Celia Cruz, known as "La Reina de la Salsa" (the Queen of Salsa), was born in Havana, Cuba, on October 21, 1925. She is one of the most iconic salsa artists in the world, leaving her mark on both Latin American and international music. With a career spanning over five decades, she recorded more than 70 albums and won numerous awards, including three Grammy Awards and four Latin Grammy Awards. Her energetic style and powerful voice made her a staple in the tropical music scene. After leaving Cuba in 1960 due to the Castro regime, she settled in the United States, where she collaborated with legendary orchestras like the Fania All-Stars. Celia Cruz is also known for her flamboyant outfits and captivating performances, as well as her iconic cry "¡Azúcar!" which symbolizes the joy and vitality of her music. She passed away in 2003, but her musical legacy remains timeless.
