Colombia, Banco Dugand One Peso date 31.7.1921 Pick-S429a. A desirable note, especially so for it having been awarded 'EPQ' status by PMG. Fresh color and crisp paper is seen, with this note entirely free of tears, pinholes, writing, or other problems. This is the first of just three denominations printed, and it comes in two varieties, with different backs and either blue or red serial numbers. This is the first variety, of which there were 150,000 notes printed, with 103,936 pieces issued, but just a fraction of those have survived in issued format. To call this anything but a rare type and issuer would be an understatement. The namesake of the bank, Francois Dugars, was of French origin and had moved to South America at a young age. Shortly after arriving in Colombia he had served as consul for France and the Netherlands in Riohacha, before forming the Banco Dugand, headquartered in Barranquilla.
Condition of the Banknote is Very Fine graded by PMG 20 EPQ
