Netherlands — Signed Silver Brooch with Sailing Ship, Dutch Sword Hallmark
Circular silver brooch featuring a detailed sailing ship in relief, with billowing sails, rigging, flags and rows of gunports above stylised waves. A diagonally notched, rope-like border surrounds the composition.
A small signature is visible within the ship design, with a separate oval monogram near the lower edge, tentatively read as MR or RM. Neither has been conclusively attributed to a maker or designer.
The reverse shows the corresponding recessed ship design and bears a Dutch sword hallmark for silver. It is fitted with a hinged pin and an open hook catch.
Probably first half of the 20th century; the precise date of manufacture remains undetermined.
Diameter: 52.8 mm.
Total weight: 22 g.
