Netherlands – County of Holland – Probably Jan I – Silver Penning / ‘Kopje’ – ND (c. 1298–1299) – Dordrecht
Medieval silver penning, commonly known as a ‘kopje’, struck at Dordrecht. Probably attributable to Jan I, Count of Holland (1296–1299).
Obverse: Head facing left within a beaded circle, surrounded by a partially legible inscription. The ruler’s initial is insufficiently clear for a definitive attribution.
Reverse: Long cross pattée extending through the peripheral inscription, with plain quarters. Portions of the Dordrecht mint legend remain visible.
Comparative reference: Grolle 12.3.1.
