Historical Context:
This plaquette was created in 1946 to commemorate the academic career of Frans Delporte, professor of gynaecology from 1928 to 1946. Designed by the French-born Belgian medallist Alphonse Bonnetain (1888–1967), the work reflects the tradition of academic tribute plaques in Belgium, often presented upon retirement to distinguished faculty.
