Historical context:
This silver medal was issued by the Royal Society of Agriculture and Botany of Ghent, an influential scientific and civic institution in 19th-century Belgium. Designed by the renowned medallist Joseph-Pierre Braemt (1796–1864), the medal served as an award for excellence in agriculture, floriculture, or botanical study. Its classical iconography and fine engraving reflect the prestige of the issuing society.
