Петр Зальцман родился в Ленинграде в 1952 году. После занятий в средней художественной школе при АХ СССР он учился на архитектурном факультете Института живописи, скульптуры и архитектуры им П.Е. Репина и, получив диплом, стал работать как архитектор. Но еще в студенческие годы он неожиданно увлекся резьбой на раковинах. Известность художнику приносит активная экспозиционная деятельность. Его произведения привлекают к себе внимание на региональных и всесоюзных выставках, одна за другой следуют персональные выставки в Ленинграде, Москве, Таллинне, других ropoдах Советского Союза, с его искусством знакомятся в ГДР, Польше, Чехословакии, Италии. Peter Salzman was born in Leningrad in 1952.
