Crowned topped by cross, Ahmaric caption., Denomination and date in Amharic., Graded NGC MS 61. Slightly shifted coin in the slab. Gill.Y-A1. Highest grade for this type. From the Baldwin's 91 sale, September 2014, No. 3364. Pattern of the highest rarity. Gill reports a single example of the Mahaleki and considers the coin to be the last to leave the Harar mint before Menelik II captured the city in EE 1887 (1894). It is also Ethiopia's first modern coin.
