Tetradrachm 298-295 BC Tarsus Kingdom of Macedonia, Demetrios I Poliorketes, Tarsos AU(50-53)

Prijsbieding

Nike playing salpinx (instrument similar to a long trumpet) with her right hand and holding a stylis in her left hand and standing to the left on the prow of a Greek warship., Poseidon standing left, a chlamys encircled on his outstretched left arm and brandishing trident with his right. Monogram consisting of Α, Ν, and Ο/Φ in the left field (Price 953) and I or Z in the right field., Attractive example despite the lack of details on the obverse, likely due to the use of a die with engravings worn by repeated striking. Reverse is of very good quality and well centred.Newell 36 ; HGC 3, 1012f (Tarsos), ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ
